Friends of Union County Library (FOUCL)

The Friends of Union County begin collecting donated, gently used, Christmas items in October. Friends are in the library every Monday and Wednesday morning during the whole month of October, and we have a drop box for donations at other times that month.

Friends spend hours sorting and pricing the items we receive. We take anything with a Christmas theme, except large artificial trees and used toys. That means we are expecting donations of Christmas ornaments, tree toppers, holiday-themed books, wrapping paper, bows, tags, and fancy boxes. We want Christmas craft projects for both adults and children.

Do you have Christmas jewelry or scarves or mittens? We’ll take them. Christmas stockings and Christmas Santa hats or reindeer antlers are always welcome. We want Christmas villages, nativity sets, silk poinsettias, Christmas vases, and floral picks. We are on the lookout for collectibles like Hallmark figures and Hummel Christmas décor. We want Christmas kitchenware – tins and trays, dishes, mugs and goblets, and cookie cutters.

Bring us your Santas, your snowmen, and your reindeer in every shape and size. Angels are always in high demand, too. Done with a snow globe or two? We’ll take them. We want holiday candles and tea light figurines. We like tablecloths and napkins, placemats, and table runners. Music boxes playing Christmas tunes are fun!

For those who want to decorate outside, bring us your Christmas lights, your yard decorations, your Christmas wreaths, and your big red bows.

The Community Room at Union County Public Library turns into a Christmas Room, heavy on the red and green hues, when the sale takes place on the first Friday of November from 10 AM to 4 PM and the following day, Saturday, from 10 AM to 1 PM.
